Welcome to Skamania Church

Skamania Church is a community of people on mission for Jesus who meet regularly to worship, pray, study Scripture, take communion, and enjoy fellowship.

Please join us for worship on Sundays 11am!

Ministry

Sunday School

Join us for an in depth study of Scripture at 10am, just before the 11am service. This is a time of in depth discussion of Scripture as well prayer and worship and sharing.

Sermons

Skamania Church's team of elders lead the congregation through books of the Bible, preaching and teaching straight through the text.

Children

Skamania Church has a flourishing children's ministry. We believe that the family of God is made up of children of all ages. Each Sunday we provide church for children. During the summer of 2014 we put on a Vacation Bible School based on John Bunyan's Pilgrim Progress, and children from all over the community joined together for games, stories, prizes, and ultimately to learn about Christ.

VBS 2018

We were blessed once again with an amazing week at VBS centered around the story of The Horse and His Boy by C. S. Lewis. The parallel between Shasta’s journey from slavery to freedom and our spiritual journey from darkness to light was this year’s theme, and we called it Journey Home.  Many thanks to our wonderful team who pulled it all together this year, offering games, crafts, snacks, stories, music, and Bible lessons.  Special thanks to our video team, who produced fun action videos incorporating each day’s activities.  The children couldn’t wait to spend their Bible memory bucks at the VBS store, the final event of the week that wraps it all up.  Everyone left feeling spiritually encouraged and uplifted, including our amazing VBS team members who made it possible in the first place.  Thanks, everyone, for your wonderful participation!

Narnia VBS 2016

Once again, Narnia VBS was a big hit with our kids! This year we boarded a ship called the Dawn Treader and explored many remote and obscure islands as we followed the narrative by C.S. Lewis in “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” Our focus was transformation through Christ and the need for a new heart, illustrated by the transformation of Eustace from a dragon back into a boy. Join us next year as we continue with a Narnia theme following the next book, “The Silver Chair.”

The Annual Harvest Party

Skamania Community Church hosts a Harvest Party for children and their parents each year.  The Harvest Party is usually held on the Saturday following Halloween, but the date  may vary. The event begins with a potluck, followed by activities for the children. Among the activities are a cupcake walk, turkey toss, fish pond, costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest, and a pinata.  Every child takes home a bag of candy, and each contest winner takes home a prize.  Some of the highlights from the 2014 event are posted below.yoda

Awana

Awana

Awana Club events for children are held 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 6 – 7:30 during the school year. Children learn Bible verses and participate in games, small group time, and snacks.  We sometimes add an element of interest for the children, such as bringing a miniature horse to Awana!  Age ranges are Cubbies (3 -4 years old) Sparks (5 – 7 years old), and T & T (8 – 11) years old. Newcomers are welcome to join at any time; we have plenty of books, vests, and shirts. A Youth Group meeting, led by Bill Skiffington,  is also held for young people from 12 – 18 during Awana game time and small group time. Come join the fun and give your children the opportunity to know and love God’s Word.

Theology of Work

I grew up working for my dad. He owns a commercial cabinet shop. We build display fixtures and do interior packages for retail stores. So if you’re in need of a store package for your new retail store, check out Silver Star Industries.

Missions

Jesus has commanded his church to bring the Gospel to all peoples (Matt 28:16-20). While this means that we are on mission in Skamania Community, we also believe that involvement in God’s work to reach those across the world who have never heard the Gospel is a vital part of the life of the church (Rom 15:20-21). Below are listed missionaries which Skamania Church supports either financially or through prayer.

More information on the workers we support will be coming soon…
